Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Does the indoor unit have to be level or can you install on a sloped ceiling (minor) ?

This must be installed level against a vertical wall.

  • How many square feet will this heat and cool

This is intended for spaces measuring between 100 and 350 square feet.

  • Does this unit use a condensation pump or just a drain

By default it drains condensate via gravity drain from the rear drainage tube, but you can incorporate a condensate pump if desired as well.

  • Are these units, inverter type? Do they throttle back and idle when the temperature is reached?

Correct, this is a high technology variable speed digital inverter system. It does not work like the older analog on-off systems. Indoor fan runs continually for properly sampling of the air temperature and will adjust the compressor speed and output based on room's heat loads. Fan only uses 15 watts of power and made to run under continuous duty. It will slow down under minimal loads along with the compressor and this saves you the maximal energy.

  • Can the outside unit be mounted horizontally, or must it remain in a vertical position?

It must be on a level vertical wall only.

  • Is it required for this unit to be hardwired via the interior unit, or the outside unit, or both?

Outdoor unit gets hardwired to dedicated breaker. Inside unit would be powered by the outside unit via the included signal cable.

  • Can you add a room?

This is a 1 to 1 single zone system. For multiple zones on one condenser, you would need to consider our multi-zone options.

  • Is the line set all copper or just on the ends?

    All copper throughout.

  • Once everything is connected do you have to e-vac the system before you turn it on?

The way it works is that the outdoor condensing unit is pre-charged with R410a to support line lengths up to 25 ft long. You will need to remove the air from the lines before releasing the refrigerant from the outdoor unit, using a vacuum pump or the flushing kit that we sell.

  • how do you use the remote

You can see the remote instructions in this manual: https://www.pdhvac.com/site/downloads/RG66B6(B)BGEFU1_UM.pdf

  • Will KWIK-E-VAC Line Set Flushing Kit be helpful if 33ft kit is purchased? How much more gas will be needed?

It will help to flush out the air and install the system but you would still need to top off with 1-2 ounces of refrigerant.

  • Vertical clearance - I only have 3+ inches to ceiling for the 12k unit...would that be acceptable? The right side line set exit is recommended if necessary...because of bending risks?

3 inches would be the absolute minimum we recommend. And yes, the right side exit involves a 180° bend in the line which increases kinking risk significantly.

  • Can I use a 30 AMP outdoor shut off or does it have to be 20 amps? I can still use a 20 amp breaker inside the panel.

A 30A disconnect on a 20A breaker would be perfectly fine.

  • what is the amperage, why can't you post it so I can find it without searching everywhere

This is available in the technical specification document here.

  • Does it need its own dedicated circuit or can I just plug unit in a household plug already there?

It requires being hardwired to a dedicated breaker.

  • what size curit breaker is needed

This particular system takes a 20A breaker.

  • What is sq footage this unit cools

We recommend this unit to be used for rooms between 0 and 350 square feet.

  • Please describe the outlet necessary to plug into. Also, does the outdoor unit need a certain amount of space around its perimeter?

These must be hardwired to their own dedicated breaker, they do not plug into an ordinary household outlet. For outdoor unit clearance requirements, you can refer to page 20 of the installation manual.

  • Is the mini split WiFi capable?

Yes it is. You can consider our internal WiFi module. It would provide scheduling functionality and ability to control remotely from your smartphone.

  • If I purchase an install kit longer than 25ft does the outdoor unit come with more R410A or does that have to be added on site?

We cannot adjust the pre-charge so it would need to be added onsite.

  • What is the size of the inside wall mount ot the 9000

    Indoor Unit Net Dimensions (WDH): 28.43 x 7.36 x 11.42 Inches

  • What is the minimum outdoor temp that heating will still be available.

This particular system will heat and cool down to +5°F outside temperatures.
You can also consider our Inverter++ line, which HEATS down to -13°F.

  • How many amps does this unit draw, cooling vs heating?

When running at rated capacity it draws 6.8A in cooling and 8.1A in heating.

  • How much does the installation kit cost for the 9000 BTU 19.5 Seer unit ? and what else do I need after this purchase to have an electrician install ?

The cost of the installation kit depends on the desired length, we have options for 10, 16, 25, 33 and 50 ft which you can choose from the dropdown menu above the "Add to Cart" button. That would include everything needed, though you may also want to consider the port adapter to ensure that the installer can access the system.

  • How many pounds of R410 is in a 9000 but mini split system?

This unit comes preloaded with 30 ounces of R410a refrigerant.

  • Does this plug into a household outlet?

This requires being hardwired to a dedicated 20A breaker, it does not plug into a regular household outlet.

  • how cold out side will heat still work

This system will HEAT down to +5°F ambient temperatures.

You can also consider our Inverter++ line, which will HEAT down to -13°F outside temperatures!

  • How do I select the correct installation kit? What distance should I be measuring to know?

This would be the distance between where you decide to place the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The installlation kit length is the length of the pipe that connects these two units together.

  • Can the indoor unit be mounted on the wall with the refrigerant lines coming out of the side instead of the rear?

Yes it can go out from either side, there are side knockouts for this.
