Notes

Every indoor unit attached will operate at a random, self regulated capacity, based on the actual demand it measures from the zone it is serving (Between 30% to 100% of its rated capacity or OFF). Outdoor unit will also self regulate its output capacity, based on the total demand it reads from all of the simultaneously running indoor units at any given moment.

With multi split systems, the total demand from the outdoor unit, shall seldomly exceed 67% of the total available capacity of the combined indoor unit group due to load fluctuations. Although very seldom, if and when the total demand from the combined indoor group exceeds the rated capacity of the outdoor unit, the capacity of the each indoor unit will be annotated accordingly.

For high demand heating applications, max loading limits may need to be reduced by 10-15 % to avoid under-performance risks at some extreme conditions.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Can I use this with a 9k, 12k, and a 24k?

    Yes you can.

  • Where do I find the AHRI Certificate ? So I can print it for my unit

    It is linked here: https://www.pdhvac.com/site/downloads/certificates/certificate_YN040GMFI22M4D.pdf

  • Are port adapters required for attaching heads to condenser. If I wanted to attach four 12000 heads would the line sets would be compatible ?

9K indoor units connect natively. Bigger units connect via adapters (included with outside unit).

  • Can the inside units be different BTU ratings? In otherwords, Can I combine a 12 BTU with a 2400 BTU or do they all have to be the same rating?

24+12 is a valid combination on this condenser. See full matching table here: https://www.pdhvac.com/site/downloads/YN-M22-MATCHING.pdf

  • What is the fuse rating 40 amp

This would take a 30A double-pole breaker with 10 AWG wire. You can use a fused 30A disconnect or an unfused 60A disconnect as well.

  • Can I combine three indoor cassettes and one wall unit with this outdoor unit?

Yes you can mix and match the units in this way without any issue.

  • Do they all have a heat strip for colder weather

The outside units for multi-zone all have base pan heaters to function down to -13°F.

  • can I connect (2) 18,000BTU indoor unit?

Yes you can, this is a valid combination in the matching table.

  • What is the max line set length for all 4 heads?

80 ft on any one given head, and 200 ft combined total between all 4 heads.

  • Is the amount of pre-charged refrigerant measured accumulatively to a total of 100’? (Can I have 1 line of 50’, 1 line of 30’ and 2 lines of 10’ line set, or is the charge isolated to each line?)

It is a cumulative amount, the refrigerant is shared between all circuits. So 100' total attached with any combination between the 4 zones is covered by the pre-charge.

  • What size breaker does this use? How many amps?

This would take a 30A double-pole breaker with 10 AWG wire.

  • How low can the outside temperature be and have the unit maintain effectiveness

This unit runs at 100% capacity at 47°F, 70.5% capacity at 17°F, and can HEAT down to -13°F outside temperatures (50%).

  • can we buy wall mount controller for air handler in stead of hand held type for this unit?

Yes you can. It depends on the indoor unit. If you pick wall type, then you need this one: https://www.pioneerminisplit.com/collections/accesories/products/programmable-thermostat-for-pioneer-wys-model-mini-split-systems

If you pick ceiling/floor/ducted, then you need this one: https://www.pioneerminisplit.com/collections/accesories/products/weekly-programmable-thermostat-for-pioneer-rb-ub-cb-fb-model-mini-split-systems

  • will this 4 zone unit works with a 9k+9k+9k+18k, combination?

Yes, that is an allowable combination.
