Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • What voltage can this operate at? Will it work with normal residential single phase 220/240 in the USA? Please list min and max voltage. I can decide if my service can stay with in those limits.

Yes it can. Min voltage 187, max is 253.

  • Which 18000 unit will still work without freezing up in below freezing temps?

Yes, this system will continue heating down to -13°F outside temperatures in heating mode.

  • Can a second zone be added later?

No, for that you would need to shop for Multi-Zone systems: https://www.pioneerminisplit.com/collections/multi-split-systems

  • What size wire do I need and what size beaker for this unit?

This would take a 20A double-pole breaker. The corresponding wire would be 12 AWG, with 2 hots and a ground, no neutral.

  • What gauge wire is required from the main electrical panel to the disconnect box. 10-2 or 10-3?

It would need a 20A double-pole breaker and 12 AWG wire (2 hots+ground, no neutral).

  • What are the copper pipe diameters if I want to pre-order for in wall installation

This system uses 1/4" and 1/2" size copper pipes.

  • What gauge wire is required for the 18000 mini split?

This system would take a 20A double-pole breaker with 12 AWG wire. 2 hots and a ground, no neutral.

  • What diameter hole should be drilled through the wall for the drain and tubing?

A 2.5" wall hole would be sufficient.

  • How many square feet would this unit efficiently heat/cool?

This system is recommended to manage spaces between 400 and 700 square feet.

  • What size circuit breaker is needed for the 18000 BTU unit 208/230 volt single phase. Is it a double pole 15 or 20 amp.

Either is acceptable but we recommend 15A.

  • Can the outside unit be mounted on the wall?

Yes it can, you can use one of our wall-mounting brackets.

  • Hello, I am looking at purchasing the 18,000 BTU Unit. If I purchase the 10 foot line rather than the 16 foot line will I need to remove some refrigerant and flare the line? Thanks

The amount of pre-charge is optimized for 16 ft, but any run between 5 and 25 ft will not require adjustment of the refrigerant levels. The 10 foot line will come pre-flared as well.

  • How many amps to start and to run 18k btu wondering if it would run less amps once room is cooled

This system is rated 6.1A in cooling and 6.8A in heating. It is a soft-start system and the current does drop as the set temperature is reached since the compressor will shut off and only the indoor fan motor will keep running.

  • Where can i find how to use all the functions of my remote control? It was installed while I was away and did not receive the manual for it.

This can be found here: https://www.pdhvac.com/site/downloads/manuals/RG10-UM.pdf

  • At the lowest outside temps this unit is rated for what’s the temperature coming off the indoor coil in heat mode ? I live in the north east part of the US and get asked about these all the time .

Depends on the current indoor temperature. A 20-25 delta-T (return vs supply air) is normal.
