Does this unit actually heat the air? The room we are putting it into is a basement that is already on the colder side. Simple air transfer using the room air will not heat the air. Does this unit allow you to set a temperature and it will blow out that air temp?

It does not have a set temperature function. The primary functionality is to bring in fresh outside air without disturbing or modifying the current air conditions inside. It preserves the current state of temperature and humidity in the room, while introducing fresh air from outside.

I want to place this in an airtight home. Could I theoretically use this to supply enough makeup air (88 cfm) for a bathroom exhaust to equalize pressure?

Good question, and you are thinking about this the right way for a tight home. Short answer: no, not as a makeup-air source.The ECOasis 150 is a balanced ERV. It supplies fresh air and exhausts stale air at the same time through its heat-exchange core, which is what gives you the energy and humidity recovery. The 88 CFM figure is its supply airflow at top speed, but because it is exhausting a comparable volume at the same time, the net air it adds to the house is only the small positive-pressure differential it is designed to hold, not a full 88 CFM. So it will not offset an 88 CFM bathroom exhaust fan or equalize that pressure draw.If the goal is dedicated makeup air to keep an airtight house from going negative when a large exhaust runs, the right tool is a makeup-air or supply fan sized to that exhaust, not a balanced ERV. One thing worth designing around: in a very tight home, running a large exhaust with no makeup path can depressurize the house enough to backdraft any combustion appliances, so that pressure balance matters for more than comfort.Where this unit does shine is the rest of your scenario. An airtight home needs balanced fresh-air ventilation with heat, humidity, and particulate recovery, and that is exactly what the ECOasis 150 is built for. So it is a strong fit for the home, just not as the makeup-air device for the bath fan. Fresh air without the energy penalty

Modern homes are built tight to save energy, but that also traps stale air, humidity, odors and CO2 inside. An energy recovery ventilator (ERV) fixes that by continuously exhausting stale indoor air and bringing in filtered fresh outdoor air. As the two airstreams pass each other inside the unit’s heat exchanger, the ERV transfers heat and moisture between them. In winter, the incoming air is pre-warmed by the air going out. In summer, it’s pre-cooled and partially dehumidified. You get steady fresh air while your heating and cooling system works far less than it would with an open window.

Ductless or ducted: which ERV is right for you?

ECOasis Ductless (single-room). These mount through an exterior wall with no ductwork. They’re ideal for a bedroom, home office, basement, apartment, or any room that feels stuffy, and they’re the easiest way to add fresh air to an existing home. Built-in Wi-Fi and smart sensors adjust ventilation automatically.

ECOasis Ducted (whole-home). These hide in a ceiling cavity and connect to ductwork, supplying fresh air and exhausting stale air throughout the house or across multiple rooms.
